MATINICUS EXCURSIONS

-Mid April through Mid June = charter service most every day.  Scheduled trips on Memorial Day weekend.

-Mid June through Labor Day = charter service most every day. Scheduled trips on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

-Labor Day through the third week of November = charter service most every day. Scheduled trips on Friday and Monday of Columbus Day weekend

-Puffin trips to Matinicus Rock are given throughout the week until the puffins leave, which is usually around the middle of August.

FARES    For leaving from Rockland. Also for leaving from Matinicus or Criehaven bound for Rockland

ALL FARES ARE SUBJECT TO INCREASES BASED ON THE COST OF FUEL.  IF YOU HAVE MADE A RESERVATION AND PAID FOR THE TRIP, NO INCREASES WILL BE CHARGED TO YOU

MATINICUS = $60 person one way on days I have scheduled trips

CRIEHAVEN = $60 person one way on days I have scheduled trips

CHARTER TRIPS  - On days that I do not have scheduled trips, or if the scheduled times are not convenient, you can usually arrange one.

Fare - one way: 1-4 people = $240 total to Matinicus or Criehaven

                        5-16 people = $60 person to Matinicus or Criehaven

THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL FEE FOR EARLY MORNING OR EARLY EVENING DEPARTURES

I WILL ALWAYS TRY TO GET OTHER PEOPLE TO COME ON CHARTER TRIPS BY CONTACTING THEM THROUGH EMAIL AND FACEBOOK IF I HAVE TIME. IF I GET OTHER PEOPLE TO COME, THIS COULD REDUCE YOUR FARE  IF YOU RESERVED THE TRIP AND HAVE LESS THAN 4 PEOPLE IN YOUR GROUP.

IF YOU CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE THE CHARTER TRIP AND I HAVE SCHEDULED OTHER PEOPLE TO GO ON THE TRIP, YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE ABOVE FEES.  

Children under 2 years of age are free. They do not count in the total number of people when determining fares.

There is no charge for pets. Dogs must be on a leash and cats have to be in a carrier.

Kayaks = $15 one way. Bicycles = free!

There is a maximum of 16 passengers plus crew allowed on each trip.

SPECIAL RATES FOR 9 - 16 PEOPLE

If you have a large group, the fare is a total of $480 one way for up to 16 passengers. To qualify for this special rate you have to make your reservation at least 12 hours in advance and payment is made by one check or one credit card.

PUFFIN AND LIGHTHOUSE TRIPS TO MATINICUS ROCK - leaving from Matinicus or Criehaven = The fee is $160 total for 1 - 3 people.  For 4 - 5 people = $40 apiece.  For 6 -16 people = $240 total.   Children 5 years old or under are free. Total trip time is around 1 1/4 hours.

FREIGHT RUN - for construction supplies or just lots of stuff. Cost is $360 one way from Rockland to Matinicus or Criehaven. Up to 6 passengers are included in the fee if there is room. 30 minutes loading and unloading time are included, extra time is an additional $50 hour. Freight runs are not available on weekends mid June through early September.

      2013 DAY TRIPS LEAVING FROM MATINICUS

CRUISE AROUND MATINICUS - We take a leisurely cruise all around Matinicus observing the beaches, cliffs, birds and possibly seals, porpoise and whales.  This cruise takes about one hour.  Fee = $95 total for 1- 6 passengers.  $120 total for 7-16 passengers.

CRUISE AROUND CRIEHAVEN -This trip takes around 75 minutes. Fee is $130 total for 1-6 passengers. $150 for 7-16 passengers

CRUISE AROUND MATINICUS AND CRIEHAVEN - takes around 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Fee is $210 total for 1 - 6 passengers. $240 total for 7 - 16 passengers. 

TRIP TO CRIEHAVEN -  1 -3 people = $45 each way. 4-5 people = $15 person each way. 6 - 16 people = $90 total each way. 

DAY TRIP TO VINALHAVEN - Matinicus to Vinalhaven and return to Matinicus. Explore the art galleries, restaurants, ice cream stands, shops and grocery store. Fee = $250 total plus $50 hour waiting time while you are exploring.  Maximum of 16 passengers.

DAY TRIP TO ISLE AU HAUT - Matinicus to Isle Au Haut and return to Matinicus. Walk around this beautiful harbor, visit the store, bike to the National Park. Fee = $350 total plus $50 hour waiting time while you are exploring. Maximum of 16 passengers.

DAY TRIP TO MONHEGAN - Matinicus to Monhegan and return to Matinicus. Explore the art galleries, restaurants, store, museum, lighthouse and trails.  Fee = $425 total plus $50 hour waiting time while you are exploring. Maximum of 16 passengers.

FISHING TRIPS - All gear is provided. We go around 2 - 6 miles off of Matinicus and catch mainly cod and pollock, but anything is possible.   Fish cleaning is free, but tips are appreciated.    We often see porpoise, seals and whales.  Sometimes  the fishing is good, sometimes it is not.  I do not go fishing when it is rough or foggy.  Most of the time we use jigs, but if there is fresh bait available, we will try that also.   Please bring your own snacks and refreshments.        FEE = $300 for the group.  Total time from leaving the harbor until we return is 3 hours . Extra time is $100 hour.   3 people at the most can fish at a time. Maximum of 5 passengers on the boat.  If you lose a cod jig, the cost is $10.  If you lose a cod hook and weight, the cost is $5.

                              I also offer a trip where we fish near Matinicus and try for pollock.  They average 8 - 12 inches long. This is especially fun for children.Fee is $75 an hour.  3 can fish at a time. Maximum of 6 passengers on the boat.
